Miranda July Moment

Photographically Depressed

I'm making a goal of photographing everyday. And of course I didn't photograph today.

I used to be a photo junky. I'm now turning into an "inky". I have a project idea for screenprinting. It'll be a book. I'll post photos when I make it.

I had a dream. That my project is about where I am. Where I go. So I'll take that as divine intervention for now and stick to it until something else emerges. I feel like I had my tower of blocks and they all got knocked down by people who wanted it to be something else rather than the best thing that it was.

I'll photograph tomorrow and post.

You give me fever

This is me sick. And writing.

I like blending work. Not having it be so strictly photographic. As in only photo work clumped next to photo work.

A year or so ago I was rigidly photographic. Religiously so perhaps. After I came to the conclusion that I adore work that has to be made no matter what, despite skill or health or money or anything, I've opened up a lot.

I've been doing more scribbles. I've been putting myself in different positions. I've accepted how performative my self portraits are and embraced that. I've finally found a way to introduce text back into my work. Things are reaching equilibrium again and I'm enjoying it. Dare I say it, photography cannot capture every idea I wish to get across so being open to other mediums is helping a lot. I know, I sound like an elitest photo prude. I'm working on it though.

Places I want to go

I need to work on writing more. New Year's resolution here I come. Nothing incriminating though because this is very clearly me, Kate.

I'm going to California in January with a fellow artist friend. She is going to be working on her blanket series and I'll be working on my photography. We'll be in LA for a little bit so we'll go to the museums and galleries. That should be nice. We went to New York this summer together and it was amazing!!

I'm working on saving money to travel because life is about experience and it is something I love to do. In the future I would adore to be able to go to Venice, London, Dublin, Glasgow and New Zealand. Traveling is definitely a goal I will towards. I've switched the way I categorize my work on my website into the places I visit. I will probably keep rearranging the work until it feels right.
